Radio Interview with Karen (Lee) Williams the Co-Founder of Techno Ninjas. Techno Ninjas is a computer club for kids (age 9-14) who love technology and computing and want to take their learning a bit further.
The business idea for Techno Ninjas was dreamed up between Karen and her partner Lynton and was born from her doing an after school club with their two sons and some of their friends on Raspberry Pi computers. She absolutely loved working with the kids and could see how much they got out of it too. They decided not to use RPi units for Techno Ninjas, because, although they are fun and can be used in enormously innovative ways, they’re quite temperamental! So they decided to focus on the fun programming aspects and so far, it’s been really well received.
The National Curriculum for ICT is changing dramatically, so Techno Ninjas are supporting this by giving learners the opportunity to learn programming, app development and animation in a fun, creative environment – doing activities over and above what is required in school. The clubs are all out of school, starting with a summer camp in the holidays that has just finished and was a tremendous success
