Showcasing YOUR business expertise LIVE on Radio

4th December 2014 Knowing Your Business Radio Show

This show is part two of our series of new year new YOU. It’s a look at the businesses who help individuals and business owners achieve something. Usually meaning doing things slightly differently or taking on a brand new exciting challenge.

Now, we come from the school of thought that anytime is a good time to make improvement to ones life or business – however for no other purpose than it’s that time of year when New Year resolutions are riding high on the agenda, that’s the topic tag line we’re using.

Our star experts guiding us through their new year resolution suggestions, are as follows.

Mike Roarty, Karen Williams, and Louisa Wheeler

Asking the all important searching questions is regular guest presenter, people skills expert, and published author Julie Cooper,

Show host is Ian Gentles

Prior to working at the College, Karen worked for an internet start up in Henley-On-Thames where the company launched the World’s first fully online conference, with academic papers and keynote interviews. Prior to that she worked in London as a Webmaster for a large non-profit organisation. All in all, she has been working in the technology/IT Sector for the last 18 years.

The business idea for Techno Ninjas was dreamed up between Karen and her partner Lynton and was born from her doing an after school club with their two sons and some of their friends on Raspberry Pi computers. She absolutely loved working with the kids and could see how much they got out of it too. They decided not to use RPi units for Techno Ninjas, because, although they are fun and can be used in enormously innovative ways, they’re quite temperamental! So they decided to focus on the fun programming aspects and so far, it’s been really well received.

They are launching a brand new club in Stratford-Upon-Avon in January.

Techno Ninjas is a computer club for kids (age 9-14) who love technology and computing and want to take their learning a bit further. The National Curriculum for ICT is changing dramatically, so Techno Ninjas are supporting this by giving learners the opportunity to learn programming, app development and animation in a fun, creative environment – doing activities over and above what is required in school. The clubs are all out of school, starting with a summer camp in the holidays that has just finished and was a tremendous success!
