Ahoy Cafe is a new healthy fast food concept. Coming Soon to Bristol
8 years with original restaurant Veritas – in Banbury.
2 years evaluating alternative business ideas and 6 months actively setting up new businesses.
Veritas was a full service restaurant and expanding it to multiple locations had complications.
So Dorothee decided to set up a business which suited her lifestyle better and also which she knew there was a gap in the market for.
Ahoy Café is their QSR brand and will be launched in commercial areas which typically operate for breakfast and lunch (weekdays). All their food will be made at our central kitchen ran by Dorothee’s head chef.
This was intended to be launched 6 months into trading Ahoy but delays with site acquisition has propelled this forward and they have just launched Ofishial Foods. They are approaching pubs in the local area to test out the market and appetite for their food. They will also be offering delivery to housing associations with a specially developed range.
Website coming soon.

Chloe has always loved organising events who actually wanted to be a wedding planner once but she started out organising birthday parties and delivering products and services including face painting for a range of events.
In. 2013 she took a gamble on a bigger festival to just hold a stall as a face painter and built a good working relationship with the festival organiser. They both had great ideas. Chloe had developed a taste for food type events and as a hobby made and decorate cakes, Chloe loves eating out and trying new foods. So she decided that all their ideas were too big just to keep them as separate businesses so she combined them.
Cake, Bake and Food Festival South
They have a whole range of activities at Cake, Bake and Food Festival. What Eventures really wanted to achieve was a food event that had more than just trying, buying and eating food. They wanted it to be much more interactive. – so they included things like the kiddies kingdom, the competition exhibition and also the Southern Wedding show will be attending. They’ve got a live music stage and panto performances. Wacky food challenges, demos, classes and food science will also be taking place.Plus a great selection of celebrity chefs and bakers.

Co founder with Kate Diete of Tea Witty
Unfortunately there is no podcast from this excellent interview. The telephone interview kept breaking up mainly due to Paul calling from the French Switzerland border. We will have Paul back on the show in the near future,
Kate had worked in digital agencies for 10 years, most recently as a Change manager. She had always wanted to start a business. Kate came up with the idea when travelling as she wanted to sample some of the local culture. The business was created out of interest originally sparked by family and friends.
Paul worked for 15 years in the digital industry most recently as a systems architect.
They both have a love for health and tea.
Currently traveling the worlds tea plantations to source loose leaf tea directly for their subscribers. They just visited a tea plantation in England and the next they’ll be visiting is in Turkey.
