Among posts he has held are News Editor for the Business section of The Times, Business Editor of the Singapore Monitor, Deputy Business Editor of the Far Eastern Economic Review, Head of News at Citywire and Editor of Shares magazine.

He has also contributed to the Daily Mail, the Independent and Business Franchise Magazine and commented on investment on BBC TV and Radio and CNBC. His book Shares Made Simple was published on November 10th, 2007.

He is registered as a Representative with the Financial Services Authority.

Rodney is married with one daughter.

Jasmine Birtles Financial expert, TV presenter, writer, humourist

A Money Magpie helping others become one. who likes to have a good laugh too.

Jasmine began her broadcasting career in Steel City, as a news reporter for BBC Radio Sheffield, but moved to London in 1992. She worked as an assistant producer for BBC Breakfast news and a news reporter for Sky News, LWT and Thames. Once she got a taste for broadcasting in the big city there was no stopping her.

In 2004 Jasmine hit a much wider audience as presenter of BBC One’s ‘Homes under the Hammer’. The cost of finding good housing in the UK is obviously a real hot topic, and this phenomenally popular TV show, focusing on property auctions, cemented Jasmine’s reputation as a top financial journalist.

Known as the Money Magpie Make with a website that helps save money, with regular updates on freebies and bargains.

John Lee (Lord Lee of Trafford) is one of the UK’s most successful private investors

Born in Manchester in 1942, he bought his first shares at the age of 15.

After qualifying as a chartered accountant and spending a period in stockbroking, he established a company specialising in amalgamations and mergers, which developed into a small public investment banking group.

He was an FT journalist for 15 years and wrote about his investment portfolio in his column “My Portfolio”, where he developed a loyal, and vocal, following.

He was a conservative MP from 1979 to 1992, including six years as a Minister in Defence, Employment and Tourism.

Following his defeat in the 1992 election he chaired the Christie Hospital NHS Trust and the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, becoming High Sheriff of Greater Manchester in 1998–9.

In 2006 he was made a Life Peer and sits in the House of Lords as a Liberal Democrat where his interests include defence, tourism, trade and industry.

In 2003, he became the UK’s First ISA millionaire. The value of his ISA has since grown significantly.
